Gwendel, who apprenticed under generations of renowned Louisiana jewelers, has used this background of skilled craftmanship to create her Collectors' Editions. Gwendel intricately engraves this artistically designed jewelry series by hand. Some pieces are adorned with precious stones. Designs are crafted in gold, silver or platinum. Sometimes the metals are combined, giving each piece even more dimension and character. The process starts with a flat piece of metal. The design is then hand drawn on the metal, each piece revealing another original work. Careful hands then scroll the design into the metal using a sharp steel graver. The piece is cut out using an extremely fine-bladed coping saw and then dapped into its desired shape. After the findings have been soldered to the piece, it is polished to a fine, glistening finish. Stones may be added as a final step in the process of creating a Collector's Edition piece. Exceptional beauty meets function. |
